6 Week Junior Beginners Course
Salle Eton Fencing Club will run our next course for juniors (aged 14 and under) starting on Friday 9th June from 6-8 pm at Singh Sabha Slough Sports Centre, Stoke Poges Lane, Slough, SL1 3LW.

The course will last for 6 weeks (not 5 weeks as previously) and cost £70 per person. We will provide all kit and coaching.
​
Participants need to bring a bottle of water and wear a T-shirt, tracksuit trousers (no shorts please) and trainers.
​
After a group warm-up the beginners will receive instruction by one of our professional coaches and have a chance to practice what they learn for the rest of the session.
​
You can pay the course fes in cash on the night or electronically using the details below. We will ask you to complete a form with contact details etc when you come on the first night.

Adult Course Dates
The following are the dates for the Adult Beginner Course in May 2022:

Duration 5 Weeks [ending on 6 June 2022]
Cost 80 GBP (inclusive of all equipment)

After the completion of the course, participants will be able to judge much more accurately whether they want to pursue fencing or not.
​
Mionday is also the Adult Fencing Club night, and we fence from 1900 - 2100. Aft the end of the course session, beginners can opt to try out their fencing skills with Club members for a further half hour.

Junior Beginners Course February - March 2022
We can now announce the next Junior Beginner Course.
​
We are running a 5-week junior beginner course starting on Friday 4th February at Singh Sabha Sports Centre, Stoke Poges Lane, Slough, SL1 3LW.
Each session will run from 6-8 pm. We will run sessions on the 4th, 11th and 18th February, then have a week's break for half-term (so no beginner's fencing on 25th February), before running the remaining two sessions on the 4th and 11th March.

All equipment will be provided and the course will be delivered by qualified and experienced fencing coaches.
The cost will be £80 per person for the entire course. This can be paid in cash or by cheque on the night of the first session, or electronically (bank details will be provided on the 4th).

After the completion of the course, participants will be able to judge much more accurately whether they want to pursue fencing or not.
We obviously hope that they will continue to fence with the club as full members and further develop their skills through practice, coaching and competitions.

Beginner Courses 2022
Course Dates
We will be running more beginner courses, with separate courses for Juniors and Adults in Q1 or Q2 2022.

Beginner Courses
For those who are completely new to Fencing, the club offers Beginner Courses for both Adults and Juniors, normally at the start of the Winter and Spring terms. The courses run for 5 weeks and cost 80 GBP.
​
During this time you will have a dedicated coach who will be with you for the whole of the course. The coach will take you through the basic movements, theories and exercises needed to fence. Note that the coaching on the Beginner courses is for foil only.
​
All the necessary fencing kit is provided from the Club's Kit store, and hire of this kit is included in the price for the Beginners Courses.
​
Note that whilst the Club provide all the specialist kit, all participants need to wear normal sports clothes (i.e. T-shirt, tracksuit trousers – no shorts please – and trainers) and bring a bottle of water.
​
The courses cover part of the syllabus for British Fencing Association (BFA) Grade 1. The BFA has designed a Fencing Achievement Awards Ladder which has 6 grade levels from beginner to Advanced.
​
Completion of the course will enable you to progress onto BFA Grade 1, (and subsequent grades) if you wish to. The coaches can explain the BFA Grading scheme in more detail or alternatively see the British Fencing website on the Useful Links page.
​
After you have completed the beginners course you will be required to become a member of the club, and to start purchasing your own - or hiring club - kit.
​
Your kit is obviously very important. If you need any help in purchasing or maintaining any of your kit please ask one of our coaches.
Please note any kit you purchase must be up to current BFA and or FIE (the International Fencing Federation) regulations. Details of local and London based Fencing Suppliers who provide BFA / FIE approved kit are given on the Useful Links page.
